This year we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The Reformation was sparked by Martin Luther, in 1517, when he posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg Church. At the heart of the Reformation that ensued was a series of 5 statements, known as ‘The 5 Solas’. These sola (or “alone”) statements shifted the focus away from human efforts in salvation to God’s sovereign grace. The “solas” also exalted the centrality of Scripture, in the Christian faith.
Every Sunday this October at Redeeming Grace, we are going to survey the 5 Solas, discover their importance to our faith, and apply them to our lives and church. We will study why we must believe that salvation is by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone, according to Scripture Alone, to the Glory of God Alone. Our prayer is that this study will spark a deeper faith in and obedience to God and result in the gospel going forth powerfully, as we are on mission together as His church.
