Good evening. Wanted to send out this encouragement to those who have been fasting today, as well as to those who might not have fasted but have been with us in prayer and camaraderie. It is amazing how secure our position is in Christ, and THIS is our bedrock of help and hope as we seek His face.
As I have fasted today, a few thoughts have laid heavy on my heart. One is the simple reminder of how much I don’t hunger after God as I should. If I skip a meal or two, I immediately feel the effects and long for physical food. In fact, I desire it even more. Yet, often if I skip a spiritual meal, spending time with my Lord in prayer and in the Word, and I don’t feel the same hunger and loss. It has reminded me of the great privilege and benefit of my soul and its nourishment to make it a discipline to be intentional and not miss precious time with the One who loves me and gave Himself up for me. Oh that my hunger and thirst for Christ and His righteousness would increase and I would feel the effects in my soul immediately when I do not feed upon Him!
But also, this has given me a greater hunger and desire to see Christ formed in us as a church family. I pray that we together would have a greater hunger and thirst for Christ and to see His glory and life displayed in our church and in our community. I pray that we would see the spiritual famine around us and give ourselves to the Lord to live and breathe the gospel to others by first being committed to it ourselves. That we could do nothing else but give ourselves completely to the One who has given Himself completely to us in utter gratitude and dependency. O that the joy of the grace of God would continue to invade our lives and make an eternal impact.
Be encouraged, beloved. Trusting in the Spirit’s sovereign work to do what He loves to do--build and equip His people for the glory of Christ. Looking forward to hearing testimonies of the Lord’s work in your lives very soon. Have a great weekend and will see you Sunday.
